Re: Hawaii Videographer

Re: Hawaii Videographer

I have a colleague going to Hawaii sometime in February or March 2012 for his wedding.

He originally wants me to travel with him to film his wedding but he is only willing to pay for me and no assistant in order to offset the flight cost. I personally refuse to work on a project without at least one assistant, especially for weddings.

I told him that it is better if he finds a local videographer from Hawaii so at least he can afford to pay for a proper crew to film his wedding.

Therefore anyone who lives in Hawaii and is a Videographer, please let me know if you are interested. Your gear doesn't have to be a 5D, it could be a 7D or GH2, it doesn't matter, as long as you can put together a nice looking video. Doesn't have to be SDE, he is flexible on the deadline.

Samples posted somewhere would be helpful.

Post this in the "jobs" section for more responses. That being said, it makes it more difficult to film a wedding with one person, but not impossible. Much easier if it's not in a church and you have permission to roam during the ceremony to check and recompose the 2 cameras

Free trip to Hawaii and you're saying no? Instead of refusing his request, simply make him aware of the challenges of doing a one-man shoot and if he is ok with them then away you go.

I have to agree with this here. Just bring another camera and set it high on a tripod somewhere and just film free roaming. I know it's BS and you should be payed more, but sometimes you have to get it how you can. Now if you don't need to money or want to do it then forget it, but you never know....

Should be in jobs but I did shoot a lot of DSLR weddings in Hawaii. I'm currently in LA, but I'm connected to the best players in town. (its a small state). I know guys that can shoot the whole thing, be second camera for ceremony, etc. what ever you need. Different days rates, but you get what you pay for. I know guys that absolutely ROCK and guys that will just get you the coverage you need. What island is your friend getting married on? Or you can just PM me.

You should go and while you are there find someone to help you I'm sure there are some people from this forum that lives in Hawaii.
