Re: Fraudulent EBAY Listings..... Master Tracking List

I'm starting this thread to keep track of all the Fraudulent listings on Ebay (easier to document):

Previous threads are here:

.....
It appears super easy to hack into an Ebay account, been on the phone with Ebay the last two days and they seem to have no clue as to what is happening.

The funniest part of the conversation was when they asked "What is the ID of the hacker?". I almost burst out laughing because the hacker has NO identification period, the perpetrator simply uses other members' accounts. And he/she does so for small spurts, then exits the hacked account and re-hacks a different account.

Therefore you could have an ebay member who sells only jewellery, but all of a sudden has professional cameras listed within their ebay store....etc.
.....
There are three things to look out for:
1) The call to action to email the hacker via gmail (or some third party email) to make them an "offer".
2) The hacked Ebay ID
3) The server in which the product images and descriptions are stored

If you check on the another39again account (the Ebay seller deals in seeds) - the shop has been hacked badly.

I reported a fraudulent lens this morning (Anamorphic) and Ebay hadn't moved - that was when there was about 75 items listed. Now there are over 250 (and rising)... from guitars to lenses etc - all kit that's of a high value (including a Star Wars figure 'Yak Head').

Basically, there's a section called 'Other' that all this stuff is appearing in.

My feeling is that ebay does not have a handle on this. At this point I don't feel that ebay is safe to buy nor sell. If the hacker can toy with someone's account then what else does the hacker have access to?

**all previous listed items from the legit ebay ID has been removed and replaced with the fraudulent items only

With the Nikon D4 listing, it looks like the eBay account had been unused for more than 1 year, then suddenly a dozen expensive and redundant items were all listed on the same day.

Just shows you the lengths in which a hacker will go in order to go undetected. They are like a pitcher, each pitch is a different throw.

Well - same listings and another user account hacked - http://www.ebay.com/usr/pittypatscloset

There's been a slight change of layout - the jpeg image with the text/email is blending in more (looks like text at a first/quick glance) and now there's not a 'contact and buy for $2500' instead it's a more realistic 'make me a good and real offer' LOL.
