? re: Firewire out directly to laptop

Hi,

I have a client who wants to not only record on the P2 card but simultaneously go Firewire out into his laptop, which I think is a PC running Premiere. The manual is a little confusing on this and the menu page for Output Select doesn't indicate I need to change anything.

Has anyone done this successfully? The client wants to be able to speed post and selects by having it directly into his Premiere. Would the timecode he would have be meaningful, in other words, would it jive with the timecode the camera is putting down?

Thanks,

Premiere can't do it, but OnLocation can (as tommygunn said). Just be aware that you *cannot* do firewire streaming with AVC-Intra, so you'd have to be using one of the DVCPRO-HD recording modes.

I haven't done it, but Adobe OnLocation would offer more monitoring & playback options and flexibility. But I don't know why you couldn't do a manual DVCPro HD capture on the fly in Premiere - unless the timecode might start at zero each time, particularly when the camera isn't recording yet. Barry are you sure?
