I was using the D600 today with the Nikon 50mm F1.8 electronic lens (with aperture ring). And when I turn the aperture ring manually at anything below F22 the D600 gave a "FEE" message and the exposure didn't change.

The only way I could get rid of the "FEE" message was to turn the aperture to F22.

So my question is how do I get rid of the "FEE" message without having to go to F22?

If I used a full manual lens with no electronic communication such as the Bower 35mm F1.4 will a "FEE" error still occur?

The aperture setting menu option allows for either the sub command dial or the aperture ring to control the aperture.
(F5/customize command dials)
