After editing the final video, do you re-export to avchd as back up ?
Realizing that it took up less space ? If i need to re edit than i will recovert back to pro res to re edit. Will this process maintain the quality of the video ?
Every conversion drops a little bit of data. Memory isn't expensive enough to make a habit of that in most cases. I will say for some projects I'm not as critical and would be willing to do something like that. Also keep in mind the main complaint of AVCHD is the limited leeway for color correction; you'd be limiting it even more that way.
