Funny news on how Britian has banned the G5 commercials, because the statement they are fastest computers in the world has been proven to be false advertising..

Funny though; Apple calls it the fastest personal computer in the world.  In my book, a dual CPU system with a potential of 500GB of SATA internal storage and 8GB of RAM, 3 PCI-X slots, DVD burner, AGP 8x with an ATI 9800 Pro dual head display... I'd call this a workstation!!!  Personal computer my a_s_s (profanity filter bypassed ;D)!  A personal computer is for my mother-in-law!  A workstation is for people like us who need raw power!

I also have to doubt that a Dual G5 2GHz is faster then a Xeon Dual 3.06GHz PC.   :-/

Apple isnt faster and never has been faster than a PC.. Adobe even admitted it.

Don't the new G5 workstations (or whatever they are) weigh like 40lbs? I built one of those Shuttle mini-systems last year. It's the size of a small toaster oven (actually fits under the left side of my LCD on my desk) and weighs 10lbs or so. People wonder where my computer is.

The guy on Screensavers didn't really even show off the camera, did he? (I tuned in a couple of minutes late). Did he mention 24p and all that? (The close up of Leo looked like it was 60i to me.) His short looked pretty funny.

The apple does kick ass in design. I'm surprised the PC guys haven't at least tried a more modern look. Sounds like you guys are watching something cool on the tube.

I just got jipped watching NOVA on PBS. They had this hour long doc on a dude that has rebuilt the original Wright Brothers plane and is going to fly it. So, he goes to do a test (taxi down the runway) and crashes it.

And then, the shows over, ending with a "The quest continues..."

I'm like: WTF!? (u know what I mean! no jared blockers here!). An hour of my life: GONE!

yeah.. some pc's like alienware look pretty cool. and there is www.coolermaster.com that makes some mean looking cases.

Mac keeps one step ahead though on the industrial design.

I don't need a computer to match my drapes, I need it to perform.

And if you want a nice pc case, just go to newegg.com and look under cases. There are hundreds. I prefer this Antec black case http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage...20-09.JPG/11-129-120-10.JPG/11-129-120-01.JPG

But you can also find ones with fruity colors if that's what you're into...

..i happen to own that antec case.. ceptin mines got a winder on the side thats got that ther latch there.
its actually a copy of an alienware case. so no props to antec for the design, but it is very nice, and has plenty of room for upgrades, and room to work on it. comes in steel or aluminum. but who cares about the case anyway.. most people put them out of view.. i got mine in black just so it wouldnt be a distraction with any bright colors or stooopid flashing neon glow sitcks sucking on my power supply.

the only thing you should be looking at on a computeder is ther moneeeetors . if youz is lookeeeng at the case you are not smart. the case does not display the graphics.  and i dont meeen the bright pear shape of the monitor is what yought ought look at neither.. i means the monitors screen is what you ought watch. and i dont care if yer keebard is blue or orange and looks like a cat all sexy like.. just hit the keys.. if you look at the keeboard and stare you are not smart.. you are funny person who should have bought a light brite instead of a computer. or maybe a dj disco ball would make you happy .. but i knows in mee head that my computer get the job done.. that all i care bout. not no flashy shiney minnow looking fish bait mouse flappin around robotic arms.  my baby likes lights..i like MAD CPU PROCESSING POWAZZZ!!!!    


lol .. i dont really care what your computer looks like of course..:) to each their own. ..anyway a while ago just for the heck of it i was going to start a post in the cafe section for people to post pics of their workstations so we can see where we all REALLY live..:)  perhaps ill still do that..

hey john.. i watched that same show last night.. it was pretty interesting.. i was also disappointed at the end when they were like ..oh look .. he went on a first short unplanned flight, and broke his leg and stuck the plane in a tree 30 feet up.. the end. after showing all their trails just getting the thing to fly i was waiting to at least se it fly instead of that cheesy frame by frame montage they did to simulate a takeoff. what was that!? i figured they must have run out of money to film the program . the all of a sudden there was this pbs show on with a war veteran talking about sticking knives in peoples throats and shooting people in the head point blank whiile they ran by.. so it was time to find somthing more suitable for my daughter to watch. oh well

I was bitter. I think they went to shoot this thinking they would be there for the official test flight and BAM! CRASH! Set them back $months$ probally.

I'm thinking I'm not going to air this show until I have the finished result. Serious JIP, for sure.

I made my son watch T3 last night. He loved it. My wife always trips out on what I do and do not let my son watch; I tell her I grew up on Halloween, Carrie, Dawn of the Dead. Granted, I don't let my son watch that...

Dawn of the dead... Cool! My son watched Aliens 2 years ago. We kept telling him to go play in his room, but he was rivited, scared shitless, behind the sofa, hidding his eyes, and peeking every now and then. But he would not budge. He insisted on staying. I tell you kids today are something.

Oh man! All this time I thought it was the looks that drove the performance. All these years I kept changing my casings with scratches and bumps on them with new and better looking design, in the hopes of acheiving optimal computing performance. You mean to tell me that for the last 17 years I was wrong? And to think I still have a 8088 with 640k RAM and a 20MB hard drive... No wonder I keep crashing in Adobe Premiere! ;D

Shite! You mean I should get rid of my Commodore 64 (I've been kind of into this whole retro 80's thing) and update for performance reasons?

Fruity colors? Cool! It will go well with my trips...
