Yes I know that the 1DC is more expensive than the PXW-FS5 and it has no XLR.

But given the choice, under which condition would someone go for a 1DC over a PXW-FS5 today?
 
Between the two you'd probably look at things like if you want/need 10-bit 422 in HD or want Canon EF lens support, etc..

I have shot with the 1DC and I have not shot with the FS5 to say definitively but so far the 4K out of FS5 is not looking that promising.

Probably one of the reasons (if not the main) to decide between a FS5 and any other option in the market is forgetting the dsrl world and all its riggings/filters/audio nightmares..
 
High bitrate, intra-frame codec with a log profile designed specifically for 8-bit?

Overall image quality (according to subjective needs)?

Haven't shot the FS5, so can't compare. Very dissimilar cameras. Not really head to head in the market.
