Re: A7S vs 7D Mark II // Attempting to match Picture Profiles

I've been working all day to attempt to match Picture Profiles between the A7S and 7D Mark II. I think I am getting close. Here is what I have so far:

7D Mark II Settings:
Cinestyle
Sharpness = +2
Contrast = -4
Saturation = 0
Color Tone = 0
WB = 5500K
WB Shift = B5, G3

A7S Settings:
Black Level = -4
Gamma = Cine1
Black Gamma = Wide, +7
Knee = Manual [Point = 95%, Slope = 0]
Color Mode: Pro
Saturation = -10
Color Phase = -3
Color Depth [R = +3, G = +7, B = 0, C = 0, M = +7, Y = 0]
Detail Level = 0, Adjust [Mode = Auto, V/H Balance = 0, B/W Balance = Type3, Limit = 7, Crispning = 0, Hi Light Detail = 0]
WB = 5500K
WB Shift = M2

I always found the reds to come out too orange on the Sony which was the biggest tell-tale sign. Take car tail lights for example. The only solution I found was to use a qualifier to change the reds.

Looks quite nice. Do you have experience mathing S-LOG2 with canon ALL-I footage?

Nope completely eye-balled it. I tried using the on-camera monitors (1 x SmallHD 501 and 1 x Marshal VLCD71MD) and eye-balling the image using these monitors (one monitor on each camera) but as good as these monitors are, it is hard to eyeball this way. So instead I did one tweak at a time, and after each tweak I would upload to my editing machine and would check color on my 24 inch monitor instead. In this way I would be looking at the actual baked file instead of the hdmi-out.

I find the 7D Mark II's hdmi out to be much crisper and cleaner than the actual ALL-I file for example.

I am really hoping I can use the 7D Mark II for speeches and vows because of its superior face tracking and be able to cut that footage with the A7S shots. The A7S would be used to capture moments within the day, the action shots so to speak.

Note that the 7D Mark II at above 1000 ISO is exponentially noiser than the A7S at 1/30 and F4. So this is a consideration if trying to match picture quality.
