Given that focus groups of 5D Mark II users for cinema were used to design the EOS C300, is this the 5D Mark III all of us film guys were waiting for???

WOW what a long presentation, still no specs and price given!!! Delaying to spoil RED's party at 6PM???

ANSWER: No and Yes..... No auto exposure will hurt event videographers, this camera is squarely aimed at hollywood. Hence the forthcoming 5D Mark III.....

Canon is further segmenting their markets. They are diverging away from the convergent nature of the 5D Mark II with the introduction of the C300.
 
If a videographer can't handle manual exposure maybe they should consider finding a different career. I shot news for years and always used manual everything. I can't see how weddings and barmitzahs would be more frantic than news shooting.

I hope this wasn't the prime motivation for bringing out the C300, maybe that is why the RED Scarlet-X will trounce the C300?

Oh for sure, but I think for event videography, having auto exposure is critical as you don't have time to adjust for exposure levels. Of course manual is the best so you don't get exposure shifting in your picture, love it when the "look" stays constant.
