RC car trade show: day rate?

So apparently my dad knows a guy who owns an RC parts manufacturing business. The owner is going to a tradeshow in a few weeks and he wants a videographer.

I own a DVX and I would confidently say that I'm really experienced with it and the trade show will probably be 2-3 days.
How much should I charge him per day? (obviously room, food, tape, and gas will be extra)

also, I was thinking I should consider renting a steadicam and putting that in part of the costs. Holding a DVX for long hours hurts the wrists. Does anyone know of any rental places or perhaps you have some other suggestions besides a steadicam?

Any suggestions on price though?
I need to tell him how much I'd charge per day of shooting soon or else he's going to find someone else for the job. :/

What's your regular rate? $40/hr, $50?

There was another thread on here talking about rates. Don't quote me but I think the consensus was $300/day on the low end. Some forumulas were based on a 8 or 10 hour day. So that'd be 30 bucks an hour for a 10 hour day. That's just for shooting. Sounds like it'd be a lot to edit too. There's my 2 cents.

On the low end I would go less than 300 a day. I start out charging $500 a day unless I really need the money then I might go lower.

Also anything lower than 4 hours I charge 250 for I don't how little I do because it's just not worth it to do it for anything less. Also make sure you don't let clients try and low ball you by saying stuff like " Oh it's only an hour of shooting" because that's BS.

You always want to try and get to the job 45 minutes before plus you need time to break down so that's another 1 1/2 right there . I just did this concert that was suppose to start at 7 O'clock but didn't start till 9 because the band was late and they had to setup. I didn't leave that place until 12 O'clock.

alright, thanks. :D

I was thinking of going with 500 a day since I'll be staying there for a day or 2, I was just hoping for some confirmation. I'll go down if I need though.

That's good advice about the "less than 4 hours" thing. thanks.
