Does Avid Xpress Pro not have a razor tool?

Final cut Pro and Premier Pro have a razor tool to cut directly on the timeline. I can't seem the find it in Avid?

Does only the high end of Avid products have that tool and more?

Add edit is not the same as the razor blade.

I am really looking to get into a professional avid product but I can see it's discontinued. What's the closest I can learn like final cut pro but from avid?

Add Edit is exactly the same as the razor tool, except you can't use your mouse to add the cuts--you use the keyboard.

Media Composer is now the least expensive version of Avid available at $2,500, or $295 if you qualify for the academic version.

Avid Xpress Pro was discontinued - Media Composer, NewsCutter, Symphony and DS are the editing products now in the lineup.

research all other NLEs at the same time.
I know of nothing a media composer offers that Premiere doesn't at this point and several NLEs do much more for less.

YOu know nothing that MC offers that Premiere doesn't? Really? World Class media management...top notch offline/online workflow...world class shared storage and project sharing via Unity...integration with all broadcast and feature film workflows (since they were designed around Avid). There is a lot that Premiere CS4 can do for short form stuff, but I don't see it as a contender in the long form arena. I guess it boils down to...as it ALWAYS does...what are you doing?

billing hours.
I'm just sayin shop before ya buy. Things have changed since most of us became avid Avid fans.
