raylight

If you want to view clips in the correct aspect ratio you either have to:

Use the P2 Viewer (free).
Use the clip viewer in your editing system with the Raylight plugin
or
Drag into RayMaker and view the resulting AVI file.

mvb,

"DVFilm" watermark is the topic.

Sorry to bother you on this site; however, the Raylight site does not seem to offer the information I need.

I installed the Raylight demo version about 3 months ago to use with Vegas. I've since switched to FCP and want to use my PC laptop for P2 dump and DV Rack.

Now that both Raylight demo and Vegas have been uninstalled, I still get the "DVFilm" watermark on movies files played back over Quicktime (7.1.3), and Windows Media Player. The Raylight site does not seem to address that.

These are new files and were created after Raylight demo was uninstalled. I captured the files using DV Rack HD (current version).

How do I get rid of that watermark?

Purchase Raylight DECODER, the quicktime DVCPROHD decoder for windows.

mvb,

I no longer need Raylight on my PC. I uninstalled it...but something appears to be retained on my PC. How do I make it go away?

You probably still have the demo version of Raylight Decoder. Remove it by running UnInstall in the raylight decoder folder, or delete the "raylightQuicktime.qtx" files in your /windows/system32 folder.

But without Raylight Decoder you cannot play DVCPROHD quicktimes in the
windows quicktime player.

Indy, understand that you CANNOT play back Apple FCP DVCPRO-HD Quicktimes *at all* if you don't have the Raylight Quicktime Decoder. Right now you're seeing the watermark because you have the trial version installed. If you uninstall it, all you'll get is a white screen. Apple has made Windows Quicktime incapable of playing back Mac Quicktime files that use DVCPRO-HD. So if you want to view quicktimes, you need to buy the Raylight Decoder. Otherwise you can't view those quicktime files at all.

Thanks guys. It sounds like the uninstaller just didn't take all of the decoder components. I'll try reinstalling and unistalling again.

Raylight is not really needed on the PC at this time because I use DV Rack for the those recorded files and P2 Viewer for MXF files. Raylight for the Mac side of the workflow is not out of the question.

btw: I did not see the watermark when the file was opened in FCP...so there may not be a real problem. However, I'm a neatness nut and completing the uninstall helps to keep my computers lean and mean.

Thanks for your help Barry and mvb. I'll let you know if the reinstall/uninstall works.

The reinstall/uninstall provided the same results. So, I just deleted the "raylightQuicktime.qtx" files in the /windows/system32 folder per mvb's suggestion. Of course the files don't play as Barry said.
