Raylight with other files than MXF

Does raylight work with other fileformats than MXF? More specifically AVI...

The reason I'm asking is because I've just gotten the redrock M2, and I need to flip the images. I'd like to render out files in the upright position before I place them on the timeline in my NLE (I'll probably go with Vegas), to secure nice playback on the timeline.

What I would like to do is flip the image in VirtualDub, and then run Raylight on the Vdub-rendered files to maintain the ability to choose the different intermediat formats while editing. Is this possible?

Oh, and one more thing: What format/compression settings should I render from in VirtualDub to maintain quality and keep the filesize/bitrate the same? Is it even possible without an DVCpro HD avi-codec? (Or does an DVCpro HD avi codec actually exist?)

If you wonder why I want to use VirtualDub to flip the image, it's because I've done tests with SD DV where Vdub does this 2-3 times faster than Vegas. I have not got a clue how this holds up in HD though, because I haven't gotten my P2 cards yet...

As you have to recompress the image to flip display, so you will not want to use DVCPRO-HD for that. Please look into our products (CineForm) we support 180 degree image fliping and re-sizing as part of the MXF to AVI conversion, and offers a high quality post workflow. We added the image flip as a partnership with redrock micro, it is even called "M2 lens adaptor mode". Connect HD is a perfect match for Vegas (read more here http://www.cineform.com/products/ConnectHD.htm.)

You don't need to recompress to flip the image. Just use a 2nd monitor
for viewing the footage that is physically turned upside down, or some
display adapters (like the ATI Radeon series) can 180 the image in the
display properties settings.

Then when you render for DVD, broadcast, or for film out, etc. it can be flipped
in the NLE.

That's pretty funny. Doesn't help on the timeline though.
