Raylight, FS100, Premiere, MXF?!

I don't understand what all these MXF files are... which files do I want to import to Premiere? I'm able to figure out which files are the video files based on size... I import them, and they work... but there's no audio. There's an audio channel, but no audio on it. If I try to import what I assume are the MXF audio files, it shuts the system down... won't do it. What are all these files, and what do I do with them?

Thanks for any help with this new work flow...

Premiere doesn't support the MXF files, so you can't do anything with any of the files right now. What you have to do is get ahold of RayLight; that'll add proper MXF support to Premiere.

Thanks Barry - I did purchase and install Raylight. The problem I'm having is not being able to make sense of all the different mxf files in the multiple folders on the firestore drive. Maybe I'm not even supposed to be looking at all the different mxf files? What is it that I want to copy to my computer HD and import to Premiere?

Maybe I'm missing some critical piece of software that makes sense of all this?

Thanks...

No, go to dvfilm.com and click on Support.

Likely it is some problem with Firestore/Raylight compatibility. I think they've made some changes since the last time we tested. So you will have to upload to us some short samples.

I've done that, thanks. My files are uploading as I write this. I still feel like there's some critical software link I'm missing... after shooting just a few quick clips, I have this unidentifiable mess of files... there must be something that displays a single file per clip or something. If not, I can't understand how this is a reasonabale work flow.

Also, not a big thing... but out of curiosity, are the raylight avi's supposed to play in windows media player or quicktime? My converted DVC Pro50 and HD clips don't play in either.

Thanks for bearing with me... this workflow's all new to me.

ok... so there's a utility function on the firestore to "Organize P2". I performed that function before connecting to my computer, and it solved a bunch of problems. The one thing I still can't do however is view raylight avi's created from dvcpro50 footage on media player... does anyone know if there are other codecs or plugins that I need (already installed the matrox codec)?

Thanks again...
