Raylight 3.0 Beta

Yes, we have a Decklink HD extreme card here with a dual AMD 64 and it plays back Raylight Green from MXF files direct to the card without rendering. Premiere is set up with the Decklink presets, either 1080 or 720p, 23.976.

Marcus,

I talked to BlackMagic and they said they didn't support any sort of frame rate other than the standard 60i. So... I looked elsewhere. You're getting 24p with that card. The specs say they get 1080PsF23.98/24 which they said was a special format for.... whatever. Said it couldn't be done.

How do you like their systems? I was thinking about going with the latest Intensity HDMI output card they've got as it's super cheap and I don't need any sort of ingest (Thank you MXF and FS100). Has HDMI and Analog SDI out.

By the way, love Raylight. Almost as easy as magic.

I've run into a problem with Raylight Beta3 where I can't make AVI's via MXF come out other than 960x720. Worked in 2.02 which I still can use, but doesn't work in Beta 3.

I use MXF to Vegas usually BUT thought I would bring this up here. Anyone else have the problem?

The native frame size option is not being read correctly. Also there is a problem with the image rotation feature. If you are in the middle of a project I would stay with 2.02 until these problems are fixed (prob. around May 21st), and even so don't delete 2.02 off your system in case you need to revert back.

I realize this isn't the Raylight support forum, but does anyone know why when I drop an MXF video file into ppro2 w/ raylight it plays fine, but has no audio? I tried with the associated MXF audio file in the same directory as the video, or in an AUDIO directory within or next to the video file's directory- but it never worked. If I dragged the MXF straight in, that would crash premiere. The only way I could make it work was to first convert to WAV, then drop in- which defeats the purpose of dragging and dropping!

Any ideas?

The plugin cannot find the audio file, contact DVFilm Support.

This is probably in here already: Has support for Final Cut been established? And if you get the Final Cut Support, are you entitled to any platform after that or do you have to pay for the rest of the platforms? (Premiere, Vegas)

Marcus- do you have a list of which blackmagic cards have been tested w/ raylight and premiere pro? Are you really able to view full 720P/24 off the premiere pro timeline? Does this work in all the Raylight color modes? (red, yellow, green, blue). Also, does it work with MXF files dropped in, or only with Raylight converted files?

To me this could be a huge feature for Raylight users.

Marcus,
Thanks for taking the extra time to answer these questions...another reason why I am really satisfied with Raylight.

Yep. I've tested it with the Decklink HD extreme on PP1.5 and PP2.0. You have to use Raylight Green for real time playback and full resolution, but it can be MXF or AVI. Use the "Varicam" 23.976 preset. Our test system is a dual-core AMD 4400 and a SATA RAID.

The Decklink has a lot of system requirements so if you buy one make sure it's returnable. We're not ready yet to guarantee that it will work or offer a recommended configuration.

Does anyone know whether Raylight 3.0 works without problem with Edius Pro 4 (not the broadcast version) ? If yes that might be a good reason for me to purchase it, I am not a Premiere or Vegas guy.

Raylight does not work with Edius, because (last time I tested it) Edius cannot read AVI's with third-party codecs such as Huffyuv, CineForm, Matrox, Raylight, etc.

Are you sure? Because we have just installed the demo and the EDIUS seems to work with the Raylight? Or I am missing something

Cool.

After my Edius demo expired about a year ago I never touched it again.
