Marcus, you gotta be kidding -- you've already sussed that out and made it do on-the-fly pulldown removal for DV50 too? You are a first-class operation. Kudos, thanks, and many high-fives from those of us who love Vegas and use the HVX!!!!!!
So I guess the best rule of thumb is to always shoot 1080i/24pA if im shooting 1080 resolution? Because it cant pulldown a regular 24p (3:2) file, right?
Sounds like this plugin is an "MXF export from timeline" feature away from being absolutely perfect for Vegas users.
Yes, always do 1080/24pA. FCP does pulldown removal, Raylight does pulldown removal, etc. If you're going to be editing on a 24p timeline, always choose 24pA.
Does Raylight include the Raymaker? THere's too many "rays" to figure out what is which. I need the raymaker to convert my mxf files to avi's. Please let me know, I'm in Moscow working on a project and my version expired and I need to make the right purchase.
Raylight Version 2.02
Package includes the Raylight codec for Windows, RayMaker-- an application
that converts MXF files into AVI files, P2 Maker-- an application that
converts Raylight AVI into MXF files, and a control panel for the Raylight
codec.
Also includes DVFilm Maker (in the InstallData folder) which is only needed to
convert other non-HVX200 formats like HDV to Raylight.
Also a new feature for 2.02: a plugin for Sony Vegas to permit MXF files
in the timeline.
Raylight does not expire? Then why is it that when I launch "Raymaker" it says, "Software license expired, please upload at DVfilm.com/updateNormal termination."? Please let me know if I'm just missing something here before I make the purchase. Thanks for your time.
I'm having a bit of a mental hiccup after shooting 1080 for the first time (used to shooting 720pn to get as much footage out of a card as possible). We shot some stuff at 1080 24p (not pa), and once the mxfs were in Vegas, they appear with an unchangeable frame rate of 29.97. Should I run them through RayMaker or DVFilm Maker before editing?
The tests I ran through Raymaker and keyed in AE had interlacing every 5th frame (footage reads as 23.976, and that's what the composition's rate is at), so I assume I'm running something at the wrong frame rate. Switching the composition rate to 29.97 doesn't seem to make it any better.
