Ray Roman workshop?

I'm thinking of taking the Capture Cinematic Weddings workshop series. It's taught by Ray Roman, I checked him out and he seems legit, but I was wondering if anybody's taken his classes or can tell if they recommend him?

Does anyone know anything about his workshops? are they worthwhile?

My background is that I've shot a few weddings while also shooting commercials and feature films, I want to step up to dealing with top dollar wedding clients and that seems to be what this course is all about. Any info would be appreciated!

I worked for Ray as a B cameraman once. He's definitely "legit," though I have no idea about his workshop. My advice is to try to work for one of the top shooters as second camera. That's how you'd really learn the secrets (hint: there are none). Can you wire a lav for the ceremony and toasts? Can you leave two or three cameras rolling during the ceremony? Can you run around with a steadicam the rest of the time while your second shooter runs around with a monopod? There's not much else to it other than practice. My take is that these workshops are easy money once dudes become Vimeo famous, and they probably don't even share their most useful tips.

My point is that if I could teach you how to shoot a wedding in 15 minutes, it's probably not worth a thousand bucks and a plane ticket and hotel. The only other thing that separates you from those guys is practice.

edit-- if you have the cash to blow, definitely go do it. It'll be a lot of fun and you'll make friends, maybe learn some things too. Also, Ray is a really good guy and I don't mean to knock his workshop that I haven't attended.

edit 2-- see post below. OP is Ray Roman himself in disguise doing seedy self promotion.

I bought his class from creativelive and learned few things from it , now they are saying he has updated his stuff so now also going to his workshop to learn new stuff and meet some people in the industry

Doug posts exactly the same question to every major videosite (as a new user) and then he doesn't respond anymore, Ray has a new workshop coming up and this just looks like a sneaky attempt to bring this into attention.

Thanks for that feedback. Really unfortunate to hear.
