RAW transcoding out of Resolve

Until we get 4k compressed, I'm looking at shooting in 4k RAW and transcoding with a some small adjustments in Resolve. No heavy color grading will be used afterwards, etc. Once transcoded, original DNG files will be deleted to save space. What's the most reasonable file format to use? Prores 422? Can I do better than that? Are there other options worth considering? I'd really like to keep the file size as small as reasonably possible. On a windows machine, but have access to a mac if that makes any difference.

Thanks for the help with this! If there is another thread on this topic that you can direct me to, I'd appreciate it. I couldn't find anything.

With Cineform having been bought by GoPro are there any workflow issues or is it extremely straightforward? Is this workflow outlined anywhere? Thanks for the quick responses!

@Clermond Thanks for that link, really helpful thread. NLE is Premiere Pro.

No workflow issues, just encode it to cinform in Resolve, and edit away in Premiere. It's a pretty efficient codec, moreso than something like DNxHD so you wont need to have proxies or pre render all the time or anything. It's $299 for premium, but I think it's worth it. It's the best option right now for a PC workflow in my opinion.

That sounds awesome. Is Cineform going to compress the files significantly? Do you know the compression ratio? Just want to make sure that I'm maximizing space.

I have BMPCC and had purchased RAW4PRO.. therefore I would go the cineformRAW route.. I am working with cineform codec many years, and I am very satsfied with it..

I tried RAW4PRo and noticed it need very lot of time for transcoding..

At the end, I tried Resolve option ( rendering proxies ) and it happened that it is like 20 times faster..

I noticed RAW4PRO about it several times and asked for refund, but no reply from their side..

So, my experince.. Resolve is far better for proxies..and at the end for final grade..

I didn't try direct transcoding with HDlink, but I had read that this conversion make green cast on material..
