FS7: Raw output via 3G SDI

The FS7 sends an uncompressed 4K, 60p, 12bit raw to a recorder via 3G SDI. According to the calculator at web.forret.com that data rate for that is 5.9 gigabits per second. The maximum data rate for 3G SDI is 3 gigabits per second. How does the raw output work if td data rate is twice as fast as what the cable can handle?

Is the raw compressed by the camera like the FS5? If so why does Convergent Design record it as uncompressed? Thanks for any info

It is a compressed RAW file. This RAW format is unlike other RAW formats in structure. We need to decompress the RAW in order to work with it and create CinemaDNG files. If we recompressed it we would be concatenating the information, and the recompression to a different structure of RAW could introduce artifacts into the signal.

It is not mathematically lossless, but it is a light compression. This is the same on the F5/F55 and similar to RED Recode.
