Raw files on Vimeo?

I've seen quite a few vids that have been uploaded to Vimeo from "RAW" files. Yet they appear to have been edited. :Drogar-BlackEye(DBG

How are people editing footage and uploading it to Vimeo from "raw files"?

this for example: http://vimeo.com/7121830

I'd love to know this..

It means no color grading, or pre-processing of any kind (that is known by the user) in this case.

If it was edited, the file had to be re-compressed. Technically there is a one generation loss on this video.

It's good to ask these kinds of questions when viewing videos online. Vincent Laforet shot a short on a 1d Mark IV called "Nocturne". Canon stated that the footage was "straight out of the camera" but then was later revealed that was some de-noising that was done in post.

I wish we would get away from the word "raw" when we mean "native". They are not the same. Not even close to the same. Darn few people uploading files to Vimeo have cameras that shoot RAW, and even if they did, Vimeo couldn't accept them.

I hightly doubt that this person demuxed his shots, and reassembled the data , making cuts on P frames only to create this edit in a single .mp4. It would be pretty difficult to do this even with the assist of tools that do this kind of editing.

lol so to end this thread, we're in agreement that this can't be native footage as it has been imported into an NLE and edited and exported.. which results in gamma change and all sorts.

It's a very logical guess, but I would still email the author and ask him about his production chain.
