rattle in viewfinder (maybe a queation for Jan C.-L.)

I just noticed (and I can't remember it was before) that if you take the HPX300 with the handle and rotate it in a horizontal plane from left to right and back (a bit fast) I noticed a rattle in the viewfinder. Sounds that there is something loose. Do you notice the same or is my cam really broken. As far as I can see everything still works?

Hi gary,

That is really a relief, thanks for checking. You know my cam was in the portabrace bag (so I think good protected)) standing on a trolley and when I passed the trolley i pushed the bag off and the bag went on his side (side of the viewfinder, there is a hard piece in the portabrace which should give extra protection to the viewfinder) and about 10 cm down. So I checked the cam if every thing is ok and than noticed the sound. So I was scared that something did damage. So I am glad it seems normal. Just out of curiosity what is that noise (to behonest it is very irritating and I wonder why I did not notice it before) ??? Is it a kind of internal shock cushioning mechanism for the viewfinder ?? I remember that the HVX200 had that clunck sound when it was off from the OS. Seems that pana cam always have a kind of rattle sound :)

Yes they rattle, both my camera's do this too!

Another question, On the viewfinder there is a button (at the right side). In the manual I could not find any description what that button does. Any ideas?

Ok i found it out. You can remove the eye piece using this button and when you do this it turns out that the rattle is comming from this part. The lens in the eye part is not fixed maybe it has to be like this else you can not change the dioptry setting ????

Yes that is all correct, the rattle comes from the diopter setting, it is a bit worrying at first but I have heard of other people having it so it's not to be considered a problem.

If there is one part on this camera that could be called cheap plastic, it's the viewfinder. There was even this review I remember reading that listed it as a negative point, and I have to agree.
