rather urgent: converting still images to widescreen format for widescreen film?

Hi. I'm making a short film with an anamorphic lens. Could any one please tell me how to convert still digital images into the 16:9 format using a computer, not the DVX100 pal, as I want to protect the original image colour and resolution.

Also, is there any special pixal shape or related technical issue to worry about when preparing to export the image for use in the edit file? For example, any recommended image file type, jpeg, Tiff etc.? I'm editing on Vegas 5 widescreen mode

Thanks in advance and regards,
Michael

I assume you have to stretch the footage in edit to make it 16:9, yes?

Do you stretch each clip separately or do you first put the timeline together and apply stretch to the whole movie?

If you stretch eack clip separately then you just import your stills normally and do not stretch them.

If you stretch the whole thing at one go, then you have to squeeqe the stills to reseble the raw video footage and restretch them along with the video.

At least in photoshop you can resize pictures without keeping the aspect ratio. First make right sized 16:9 form factor stills and resize them, keeping the height the same, to 4:3 shape. Mix these with the raw video and when you stretch the video to 16:9, the photos are the right shape again.

Newer tried this myself, but with PPro & Photoshop that should work.

thnaks I see the light :)

thnaks I see the light :)

Thanks, I now see.

I stretch each clip separately i.e. confer pixel aspect of 1.4568 (PAL DV Widescreen) properties to it. So, I do not have to stretch the images (photos) all I have to do is add them directly into my project without any changes, particularly since I don't need them filling the widescreen frame anyway.

Many thanks and regards,
Michael

P.S. if I'm totally wrong on this, please do advise :)
