Ratatouille

Isn't there a pixar/disney section for all these animated movies that aren't films?

That is a pretty arrogant comment. Some people take definitions way to literal.

I guess the academy has it all wrong as well "Happy Feet" won Best Animated Feature Film of the Year.

Or is the academy ok since it has "Animated Feature" in front of Film?

Nothing against you Movie Stunts I don't even know you. I'm just saying why get caught up in a silly argument like this. I would rather watch a film or make a film or maybe even animate a film then focus on what one thinks the definition of film is.

The funny thing is that all I originally stated was that there should be a separate section for animated movies, everybody got so defensive. yeah I probably shouldn't have let it go so far but even tv shows are being posted in this section and it is getting out of hand. Now some will revile me for saying tv shows are not films either. Indeed you are right, a silly argument to be sure.

Ratatouille feels more like a film than any live action movie captured on film that ive seen this year. They sqeeze more beauty, atmosphere, and detail out of thier animation than most cinematographers do out of real life. The end result is more important than method of creation and animated movies are just as much films that deserve discussing as any other movie.

Are you going to want to discuss james camerons next movie?....cause thats going to be 100% mocap cg. Same with Robert Zemekis' beowulf...and i'm sure many more down the road. Animation and film are pretty much inseparable now.

Sorry to offend you. I guess I didn't grow up in disneyland.:2vrolijk_08:

Great point!

excellent point

Guess you didn't read above your own post! I have no problem with animation I just believe that it belongs in it's own section, not that it doesn't belong at all. And if I have to repeat myself again..... :kali:

I will still call James Cameron's Avatar a movie not a film unless there are real people in it .:violin::2vrolijk_08:

:badputer: Go back to your corner and try to convince someone else that they are wrong. :nads:

Well i guess maybe i'm arguing about the wrong thing...your saying some things are movies and some are films. I didnt know there was a difference...and i doubt anyone else cares to differenciate. Your cinema definition tics are your own problem.

All i was saying is that i think animated movies are just as much films as anything else is...and you'll find that in the future there will be less and less difference between them....so theres not much use fighting it.

itsnt it suppose to have both kinda like "Immortal" but better.

I thought i heard that all the performances were going to be motion capture...and then they were going to spend 2 years making the cg 100% photorealistic. Maybe there will be some live action too...but i bet in this one we really won't be able to tell which is which.

Best picture I've seen all year. The Lives of Others was pretty good too, but that isn't really a 2007 picture.
