Rare Exports

[David W. Richardson]

If you want to see a really strange "Christmas" movie (using the term very loosely), then check out "Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale". Saw this on Netflix last night. Made in Finland (so be ready for lots of subtitles), this movie tells a bizarre Santa Claus story. More nearly like a horror movie. Beautifully shot and told, though. Definitely NOT for kids!

It was originally a short film… which is considerably better story than the one in feature

I saw that it had been a short. Haven't seen that. But the feature wasn't bad at all. I enjoyed the cinematography. Acting was great. Very atmospheric foreign film.

Another good one, albeit not Christmasy, is Troll Hunter. Norwegian.

Saw Troll Hunter - pretty good! A Norwegian version of "found footage", though it's a comedic take on that. Pretty entertaining.

Thanks for posting. Watched it on Netflix, loved it! Fun concept, and some good acting, above average CGI, better than a lot of crap I see on the SyFy channel.

Glad you enjoyed it! Certainly an interesting movie.

It reminded me of something similar we watched on Netflix last Christmas, but I can't remember the title of that one. If I do, I'll post it here.

Rare Exports is my very favorite holiday movie.
