I have never done a music video at all and have only done 1 short film. My friend wanted to enter a contest for a rap deal at the last minute. he asked me to put together a video and have it uploaded by tonight. We shot for about 2 and half hours and edited for about the same because it had to be on tonight. I spent most of the time synching it up so i couldnt edit it as much as i would like. i then tried compressing it to get onto the contest website. Throw me some feedback if you can and vote for the video if you have time to help my friend out. Thanks alot.

I would say that it lacks some dynamic shots that changes up the persepective and feel. Every shot seems to be straight forward and the same distance which gives it a really dull feel. The syncing of music to the artist came out well as it didn't look tot lead or lag which was nice. I would throw some color correction, intermittently change from different angles with different color grades such as black and white. For being pressed for time I guess its hard to do what you really want to do. I have a "joke" music video thats more of a "dance" video that I could post that I shot with my old DVC30.

there is no concept to the video really... the shots are stale and not dynamic.. the rapper is acting funy... he should be doing something other than just rapping to he camera... and tell him not to move his hands so much..

i mean tell him that when you re-do it.. you almost have the right idea.. just kick it up another notch. let the rapper interact with other people ior opther things more.. show him driving in that rat-bagger car, SHOW us why it isnt about the money or the power... show him writing songs, show him recording songs... this could be taken in so many directions but instead its left in an alley by some train tracks... try again

thanks for the feedback guys. I see what you guys are saying and I would have loved to do more with it but he asked me to have a video ready to upload in about 6 hours. I grabbed my camera and we just shot it in like 3 or 4 places nearby, no concept really. I had him run through the whole song once at each place and just tried getting close ups mid shots and wide shots all at once. I really wanted to edit it better but there was no time. Alot of shots just drag on and i am going to recut it and do some color grading and stuff.
