random MTS file import error on MC5 ??

Hi-
i tried to import a certain MTS file into MC5 but got an error:
" a serious error has accured. you better restart program emmedietly"
after that message MC5 returns to normal.
TRIED IMPORTING OTHER MTS FILES, THEY"RE ALL OK.
tried re-naming, doesn't help.
the file is played fine on VLC, so it's not corrupted.
if some files could randomly give me this trouble, im into serious problems :(
this gets me a bit frightened, cause i started shooting a feature and had no problem importing MTS files.

thanks for any help !

*also tried importing from original SD card, with the same result :( (other files were imported fine)
it means the original file had something weird in it. what can i do? use 3rd party software to transcode to DNxHD? is there a recommended free software?

UPDATE

OK- i now know that some shots taken with the GH2 must get corrupted somehow (in camera workflow).
so Avid cannot finish importing them, while they play and edited fine on other NLE's.

so i now have a non stable workflow that i need to secure in order to stay with AVID.

could someone please advice me on the best simple way of converting those MTS files into DNxHD outside avid??
Avid is my only choice a cannot change that. i really want to keep it DNxHD 36 for offline and deal with online later.

this is quite urgent, i'll appreciate any concern and help to resolve that, thanks.

* ok, used TMPGenc successfully.

metafuse do not accept AVCHD files.
but TMPGenc 4.0 does the job.
it seems i have to be more worried about SD cards doing their job, not making errors.
(just spent 3 hour formatting the SD in PC. hope that will solve the errors)

I have shot hundreds of hours with my GH1 using Sandisc Class 4 cards, and B"H never had a card issue. I have even used them with my Sony EX1. Sandiscs cost more, but are worth the price
