RAMDISK 1.5 GB/s - Alternative to Raid 0 for CS5

I found a video while researching for Raid 0.

Since I have 16 GB of memory and the minimum for CS5 is 4GB then

I can use some for Ramdisk.
Think about when you have like 12 slots of DDR3 with

8GB then thats 96GB of available memory.

You can maybe install windows 7 64 bit in 1/4 of it like

24GB of space in ramdisk and have astonishing 1.5GB per seconds speed rate.
With this you can edit High Resolution Red Footages, etc.

CS already chews through memory, you'd have to have thousands of dollars worth of ram to be able to use it as a disk. Better yet just use a PCI-SSD.

I just installed a pair of Corsair Force 60GB Solid State Drives in my HP Win7 workstation, using the motherboard's RAID SATA-II controller. With both SSD's configured as a single 120GB RAID-0 drive, it benchmarks four times as fast as my 7200rpm hard disk.

A RAID-0 SSD is useful not only for rendering, but for maintaining multi-GB Windows and Adobe virtual memory and file I/O caches as well.

For the cost of a decent ssd raid he could probably just get a real raid card and an array of HD's for similar performance, actual redundancy, and alot more space so he can actually R/W with his source files. Anyways, ram is still alot faster than SSD raids for small stuff like pagefiles and caches. SSD's are still just an enthusiasts toy.

Correct me if I´m wrong, please:

If I reduce my total RAM by 2GB to create a 2GB Ram Drive to put After Effect´s Disc Cache on it, it´s just all the same as if I hadn´t reduced my total RAM, right?

At least in a 64Bit CS5 After Effects...
