Rainy Day stuff

Rained yesterday and wanted to see what can be done with diffused lighting. Shot on:

Cinelike D
Master Pedistal -7
Detail: +5
V Detail: +5
Detail Coring: +7
Chroma Level: -2

Also did a very slight bit of CC in Avid (the slightly aqua tint).

These are just stills so far as even my brief movie runs at a little over 150 megs. Anyone know of a good site where I can host higher end videos? It's surprised how much noise even the JPEG adds.

Geez.

I look at these captures from your footage and I think..."Why did I buy the DVX again?"

Oh well.

Soon enough the HVX. For now, my lovely DVXBs

Beautiful DOF on the flora and the kids, BTW.

Nice.

Thanks to those who commented. Why do I tend to get such low feedback? 350 views 4 replies. I haven't done much with this camera and I'm genuinley interested to here people's responses and advice.

Nice Job

Nice Job

I agree, beautiful DOF, and thank you for posting your settings. It seems that turning up v detail and coring results in a better image than much of the HVX stuff I've seen. Any possibility of clips instead of frame grabs?

Appreciate the commments.

Thanks. I'm trying to get a small video (don't know any sights that couldhold a full rez version) uploaded now. One thing that I've noticed in regaurds to detail and coring is the following:

Upping the detail in the camera looks very smooth and natural. Since the HVX200 has a lower level of edge enhancment than HD100 and the Z1, it doesn't give you that artificial, overly sharp look. However, it does appear to increase the noise. The detail coring helps quite a bit with this though and ends up making most things look good. To be honest, the noise is pretty much invisible in the uncompressed version. Unfortunatly, all the compression options I've seen whether through frame grab or not all end up boosting the gamma upon export (some more than others) and really highlight the noise. This is actually worrying me a bit since I don't want that to happen when I want to print a project to DVD but I won't have the space to render a whole film in uncompressed HD. I'm not exactly how to get it out from Avid undamaged since quicktime won't read MXFs and thus a quicktime reference doesn't work.

Liked the last frame best. The DOF is fantastic. I do see oversharpness in the flower stills where it shows hard edges (like too much USM in Photoshop) and I wonder if that is because of the push in the vertical detail since it seems more evident in the vertical direction?

I think because you're posting compressed jpegs. The stills look fine, but they don't do the camera justice.

Great shots.. Last shot fully zoomed? Cute kid..

Would love to see some motion, you know, the thing that shows like 24 pictures in a second.... :-)

Yeah, the last one is full zoom, the kid is my little brother.

I'd love to post a full thing as soon as I find a place where I can upload a 157 meg clip.
