We're putting together a documentary for the RAF Fire & Rescue Apprenticeships team.
Here's a cut down version edited for show at an apprenticeships event.
Shot on AF101 & Voigtlander 25mm & HMC151.
Settings for both were:
Cinelike V/Norm2
Both details set to -2, Mast.Ped set to -2

An absolutely AMAZING look to this piece! Depending on the settings it appears that the Voigtlander 25mm w/ the AF100 can either be incredibly cinematic for commercial or theatrical purposes. Just a beautiful piece of work. Did you record onboard to sdxc cards or externally? If so to what?

I liked the way the image quality stood up despite what the Vimeo system does to it. I liked the look, I loved the sharpness of the picture, I wasn't aware of the editing, it flowed properly. For a documentary, I have to say I hated things being out of focus. I like to see in a technical/informational product sharp focus. In some shots, the low down ones with horizon and trees in the distance, the distant trees were sharp, but the shallow DoF just annoyed me in other shots. Especially the bit in the mess, and the slow pan across the appliance control panel, where the labelling being soft was distracting. I've no issue with DoF being used to concentrate the view on the important bit, but it to me, got in the way. A quality product, but there will be people (perhaps like me) who just don't like infomentaries to be anything other than sharp. I also thought the choice of the two subjects was a good one. Were they put forward or just the best two from lots you shot and discounted?

The start and end graphic was very fuzzy? Intentional?

Josh Bass - CC'd in FCP 7 and tweaked it a bit further with MB Looks.
Paulears - Valid point about the Dof re :technical/info stuff, in some environments i had to shoot with the AF/Voigtlander nearly wide open as the light was so low, the HMC150 wouldn't have have held up, in some shots I did let aesthetics overrule information.
the 2 subjects were put forward, Joe was sometimes harder to draw good content from but i think the contrast between them worked out really well. The trailer was originally made to show the client how things were progressing, so its still a bit rough round the edges (logo/audio in places etc)

I'm learning as I go with Doc's so any feedback on this forum is hugely appreciated
