Rack focus on the HMC40

Is there a way to have the zoom "stop" at a specific mark?
When I rack focus and that I have the opportunity to rehearse the shot, I can see the value of the zoom on the LCD - usually 2 digit number -
But it's not always easy to rack focus and stop exactly where you want so is there a way to make this "automatic" by entering the zoom value... somewhere?
(I know that I could use the touch screen to change the focus area, but it's not as precise and not always possible)
Thanks

You can have more precision as to where the zoom stops if you turn off the "smooth zoom stop" function. If you want to have repeatable zooms that stop at exactly the same point every time, you'd probably need to use an external zoom controller for that.

You can program this unit to stat and stop focus at precise points. If you can practice your rack focus before your shot, it works pretty well.

So the controller is the only route then since I am not using the smooth zoom stop function (I am in Manual mode)...
The unit looks nice. But another $300..... How many jobs do I need to book before I even pay for the investment!!!
I guess I'll zoom manually

heard that! You pay $1700 and still need to buy all these attachments. :) - it's figuring what you NEED and what you can LIVE with. :)

FWIW,

I would guess that the cam(s) are only about 25% of the cost of any kit. Scale the cam up, and everything else goes up too. Think audio, lights, luggage, support, misc grip, computer gear, monitors, and the list goes on. If your just doing this for kicks, you can compromise or work around a lot of this, but if you are serious, you need a serious budget to go with.
