RØDE Blimp w/Rycote lyre suspension

I've thinking about replacing my 'seen-better-days' Rycote Zeppelin with elastic bands for a while now. I 'll have to look into this.

I'm glad now that I balked at the final hurdle on splashing out on a rycote last week. The is the best of all worlds for me now, with the lighter weight and lyre suspension overcoming the only issues I had with the rode.

Thanks John, I'm aware of the Invision update. Time for full replacement. I bought my Zeppelin back in 1991 and has seen all kinds of abuse, it has broken rings, which have been glued more than a few times and two of the three cap latching tabs are gone as well. Luckily my Softie+ Windjammer is adequate in all but high-wind conditions, so the Zep doesn't get used all that much.

Ah, the one I'm going to update I had to make new latches for. It's older than yours. It is one of two I have that were used for production recording on Blue Velvet. I know the production mixer, and when she sent them in for repairs a bunch of years ago Rycote didn't have the parts anymore to fix them and instead sent her new replacement units. So she gave me the old ones :~)

I had to fix a few things and make some new grips and only one has a dead cat but still...

So mostly created new suspension because the old one was in really bad shape and the other I wanted to adapt to a stereo mount.

But my fix on the mono is less than stellar so that I will swap out for the Lyre update.
