I was reading the manual on the stock lens, and discovered a couple features I didn't know were included.
Quickzoom - which lets you assign either the VTR or RET button on the lens to zoom in so you can focus, then when you release the button it goes back to where you had your shot set.
Auto Crusing Zoom - where you can start your zoom the speed you want, then press whichever button you selected up above and let go of the rocker and it will continue zooming at that constant speed.
To enable these features, on the front of the lens grip is a removeable plug that has the switches behind it. (1) enables VTR switch to Quickzoom, and (2) enables RET to Quickzoom.
At my last full-time gig before I started free-lancing, I had bought a Digibeta DVW-790WS that had a Fuji 22X lens (that was over $20K) that had these features on it. If I remember correctly, that lens's Quickzoom was a LOT quicker. Guess it had a stronger motor on it.
Pretty cool that these features are included on this lens.
