QUICKTIME and AVI not PLAYING NICE

Okay-

So, I've got a PC. Its pretty hip and current/ But SOMEtimes, when I am trying to view a DVXvideo, it doesn't like MOVIE files on Quicktime. But, it seems lately (and its mostly been lately) that QUICKTIME makes it difficult. Whenever I see to download an image or movie with sound, I have been getting NO audio. And, what makes it MORE perplexing...I have Quicktime 7 PRO. Its the latest and greatest. Go figure.

Any suggestions? This is majorly frustrating!

Thanks for the tip/link Ian. When I'm through working, I will surely check it out!

I have just been having Quicktime AUDIO problems. Sometimes, I have to reboot my computer and reopen Quicktime for it to play back the audio. I find this to be a very odd work-around necessity. I can see the audio wave moving, so it is registering the sound but its not coming out of my speakers/headphones. But, my speakers/headphones are working fine. When I play AVI files, I don't have a problem.

I'm convinced (though I might be way off here) that Quicktime and Windows Media Player are conflicting with each other. Sometimes I get audio on Quicktime, sometimes I do not. Sometimes I will double-click on an AVI file and it wont open...forcing me to open up the Windows Media Player/FILE/OPEN/Locate Clip...I have Media Player 10...I try to keep it as default, but I think Quicktime wants to be the default.

I really don't know what to think but its maddening. Every time I want to do something simple, like view a clip, half the time I have to hold my breath and hope I don't have to take extra steps to view it...
