Short, no sound. Using Cineform Apect HD to convert the mxf files to avi.
Compress in Adobe Premiere 2.0 and reduced the file size by 80%.

Video codec: Windows Media Video 9
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels 1.0
Frame area: 960 x 720

Hard mounted. Removed M2 UV and boot.
Zoom: Z85
Focus: MF15
HVX + Redrock M2 + Zeiss 85mm
Cinelike D
720p 24PN
HVX Lens: F4
Zeiss: F5.6

Outdoor shot;

Bitrate at around 9000. Image quality at 100.

Cloudy day.

Messing with focus.
No filters or correction of any kind in post.

Indoor shots Bitrate at around 3000 which brings the quality down but also drastically reduces file size.


Here's an indoor shot with 50mm Zeiss at F5.6, HVX at F4.
Indoor using 500W, work light from Walmart. Same settings as outdoor, only Master Ped has changed from -8 to -9.

I'm a producer/director. I'm no software expert. First time I did this. So I just experiment. I'm losing a good chunk of the quality compressing these clips.

Nice quality WMV!!!! This looks great. Question, though. What about the Ghosting? Is that from the lens or from shutter speed?

Otherwise, your DOF looks great and the image is freaking SHARP dude. I've noticed this with the M2. Is it because of the extra glass in front of the Camera glass?

I also got to watch this on my hDTV and even blown up to fit screen it looks stellar. NICE.
 
I think the ghosting is from the shutter. Still working the kinks out. Had a hell of a time balancing the image element (ground glass). Still not perfect.

The hardmount setup from HVX lens out is;

HD Achromat, 55 step down ring, M2, Zeiss

Impressive WMV , please describe export settings used to get a file of this quality. If I try to export a high quality file, it is huge and takes forever to download.
 
Super-clean, dude. Thanks for the output settings. It's VERY sharp! And low-noise. I'm trying to imagine how bright a 500k Walmart Worklight is. Apparently it's bright enough to light plenty.

Thanks for sharing yet again. How much were those lenses?

Kholi, what size and brand hdtv are you viewing them on?

Also, how is it hooked up? s-video, component, etc.
 
Samsung 32" HDTV. One of the last that was produced. Second best CRT to the Wega HD. Two component and one DVI-D in. I'm running my older home-theater PC out via DVI- (ATI Radeon 9800) to the Television. Makes good for seeing HD sized footage online, though the colors are rarely accurate for television viewing. More for web.

Can't beat the quality of CRT. Closest I've seen is the newer XBR LCD and the Samsung LN series. Probably because Samsung makes the screens for the Sony TV's.

The file size you're exporting as is nice. Though, I noticed that the last three weren't compressed the same as the first one. Didn't fill the entire frame. Might want to check what you might've done different.

Makes good for seeing HD sized footage online, though the colors are rarely accurate for television viewing. More for web. Anyone who hasn't downloaded the larger HD trailer from www.midnight-film.com and checked it out on an HDTV is missing out! Even if it's not at it's best compression.

I also use VLC player to watch the footage, as it's a lot better for straight file playback. Quicktime does weird things when sent out on a seperate digital signal, as well as Windows Media Player. I think it's some copy protection thing!

One day, I'm going to bring my G5 home and see if there's any visible quality difference in the Video cards, since I believe the GeForce in my G5 is a bit newer.

yes, I used different settings on the last 3 mainly to view on the web. The original size of the last three were all over 180mb. I got them down to under 7mb so it will loss quality of course. As you know.

Actually, the quality was pretty good. Edit: Nevermind. I just realized I didn't have something set right. Same file, same quality!
