On the scene file settings, if I am shooting at 60i the progressive mode have to be set to of or not. and if I shoot at 24p should the progressive mode should be set to 24p or will it work at its best if is set to off, I hope I explained myself right.
anyways I just found out that my scene file setting was set to off while I have been shooting in 24p and 24(ADV), would I have got better results I would have switch respectively. thanks

Re: quick question

..you cant shoot 24p with the progressive mode switched off. and you cant shoot 60i with it turned on. when you change it to either 24p mode you will shoot progressive (24p means 24 PROGRESSIVE frames pre second), and when its in 60i you will shoot interlaced (the i is for interlaced) ... ;)

Re: quick question

thank you for your answe, now what do you suggest as a progressive setting always off or try to matched with the scene selection

Re: quick question

..im not sure i understand what your asking here. ..or its possible that your not understanding what im saying..

there is NO setting to turn "progressive" on or off.   all you can do is switch between modes of recording.. on the NTSC model you have 60i, 30p, 24pN, and 24pA.    if you record in any of the modes ending in P you are recording progressive . the only interlaced mode is 60i.

i think you may be confused about the scene files.. let me run on here trying to explain them .. cause i dont know how to say it clearly and concisely :p

the camera comes with common setups preset under the different scene file dials..you can change and save the differnt setups for whatever yoou like to use the most.. f6 doesnt always record in 24pa.. its just set up that way to start
when you switch the scene file dial on the camera to say F6. it is only a preset to be recording in 24pA with all the other options set as you see them in the setup menu. if you change those options.. all it does is change that preset.. you can save it if you like.. so if you change the f6 setup to be 30p. then when you switch to f6 you will be recording in 30p. they are only preset recording setups.. it just so happens that 24pa is preset under the dial on f6. you can change all of the presets to record in 24pa if you want .. your not always recording in 24pa when you swith it to f6. your recording in whatever mode you set it to be.. it just comes set to 24pa from the factory.. there is no other setting where you would select 24pa, and then decide to turn progressive on or off.    ..and if you set f6 to record in 60i then thats what it is..

so basically :selecting f6 is NOT putting the camera into 24pa recording mode.  when you select a scene file, you are just setting up the camera with whatever options you saved under that scene file. it does come with the preset of having 24p with cinegamma on and cine matrix on and master ped at a certain level and all though. but if you change the settings under F6, you are changing the settings that get loaded into the camera when you select F6.

you can reset your settings to factory for an individual scene file by going through the scene files setup menu and going to the bottom and selecting "restore preset" or whatever it is.. "initial" or something..    or you can reset the whole cam to the factory settings if you want.

Re: quick question

I think the confusion is coming in because the menu choices don't list "60i", they list "off".

The choices are:
OFF
30P
24P
24PA

So the menu is confusing. For clarity's sake:
OFF = 60i, no progressive scan, it shoots interlaced 60i video
30P = progressive scan at 30 frames per second
24P = progressive scan at 24 frames per second, 2:3 pulldown
24PA = progressive scan at 24 frames per second, 2:3:3:2 pulldown

The scene file settings are not "married" to any progressive-scan setting... i.e., just because you're in F5 doesn't mean you're automatically shooting progressive-scan: it depends on if you have the setting to OFF or 24P, etc. You can make scene file 1 be progressive scan if you change that menu setting.

So OFF = interlaced, any other setting = progressive scan.
