quick question

Are P2 cards supposed to be formatted before using them the very first time? I started recording footage pretty much out of the box. Is this okay? I've been having trouble downloading my first filled up P2 card onto a New HDD and was wondering if this was the reason.

I had a 16GB one that geeked out and had to be RMAed when I just plugged it in and tried to record. I will format first from now on, as well as burn some incense and say a P2 chant.

You mention that you "tried" to record. Did it not record? Because i have been recording and playing back fine through P2 viewer. So all is well, I assume?

Yes, it went in and was recognized fine, then I hit rec and suddenly it didn't like the card anymore. Definitely not the same problem you're experiencing.
