quick mounting of heavy lens

So i got the canon 70-210mm for my gh1. Anyone have any cheap and quick-setup($50 or less) solutions as opposed to putting the camera on my rails? It's a fun, big ass lens but there is very little room for something to support the lens from underneath without blocking the zooming/focusing fuctions and aperture control. Just curious what other people do.

thanks guys. didn't know a tripod collar was what i was looking for. the trouble is determining which one will fit. thanks for the links!

If you can't figure out which collar or if it's too expensive, this might be another option:

I just got one for a heavy old c-mount zoom. It's kind of a one-size fits all solution. It's a little heavy, but you can mount the entire thing on a tripod and probably can attach it to some kind of shoulder rig as well. I carried it around handheld to shoot an event at a school, and it worked pretty well.

One small problem I have is that the lens rests on the support at the very front of the lens. The c-mount I'm using has a focus ring near the front and the barrel part in front of that also turns when focusing. So the part that rests on the mount actually turns when I focus. It adds some drag to the focusing, but it's really not too bad. For you lens, that may not be an issue.

thanks ron. that is very cool. too bad it's more than i paid for this lens. and yeah i think i'd definitely run into the same thing with the focusing ring/zoom resting directly on the mount. I may just have to buy some 10" rails along with my old letus adapter support piece.
