Shot in less than 10 minutes, and all improv.

Another shoot fell through, so we decided to do something...

Shot w/ DVX100 (nonA)
Shotgun mic
Vegas 6
AE 7

Spent about 30 minutes editing, so I know there are sound issues.... The main character in the swing has been in Pirates of the Carribean 2 and 3, A New World, and a Mastercard commercial to start....

Comments welcome!

I guess for 10 minutes it's alright.

The first shot is the most handycam shot possible, and it is way to long. Your subject matter is really cliché and trivial. As soon as he pulls out the bag for the first time I knew it was a gun. After he pulls it out when his friend is there, the friend's acting goes down the tubes.

The gunshot looks way fake and the last shot of his hand is unnecessary (very student film artsy, IMO).

Just trying to be helpful.

Edit: Reread my post and I sound like a jack a**, but if I sugar coat it for you, it isn't going to make you a better filmmaker.

Yeah the composition is good. But honestly I laughed because it was going nowhere slowly and repeatedly, which is what happens every time me and friends just point the camera and try and improv. Then when he shot himself I really lost it, because everytime we can't think of a way out of a scene we usually kill someone.

all problems aside - pretty obvious what they are - the guy on the swing is a good actor and some of the camera angles are cool.

I would of loved to of heard some dialogue in the this short about your main character's real life... "I was the guy swinging a sword five guys behind Johnny Depp!"

Totally. I felt the same, some of the shots came out great, due to magic hour... He is a great actor. I doubt I'll spend any time on this, but it could be a lot better 2 min short.

Thanks for watching!
