The 50mbps codec on the GH3 is very good. Some people have been having issues with the 72mbps. The Intra-frame codec stores the information for each frame individually and depending on the complexity of your image the 72mbps may not be enough to successfully store the image without any artifacts. On the other hand the 50mbps codec is much more efficient at storing the data (due to it's inter-frame compression) which then results in a cleaner image. Obviously it would be great to have a higher bit rate codec as is the case with the hacked GH2, but the 50mbps has proven to give very good results.
