quick capture question re: scene file F1

I shot some footage with the dial set to scene file F1...can somebody give me an idea of how I'm supposed to capture this footage? Just standard DV NTSC, right? Without removing advance pulldown?

I now find out F1 isn't even 24P, it's 30i, so if I'm looking to film in 24P mode from now on, I want to make sure I'm on F5, right?

So confused about these dials and their implications for capturing.

actually, F1 is 60i and yes you will just import that using standard DV NTSC settings. You won't be removing any pulldown because there is no pulldown to remove.

Depending on what timeline you want to edit in, you could either shoot 24p on F5 which is recorded using the 2:3:2:3 pulldown and you would import and edit that the same way as normal 60i footage. If you want to edit in a 23.976 timeline then you will want to shoot using 24pa (F6) and import using the DV-NTSC 24p (23.98) Advanced pulldown removal set up.

Thanks macintosh, yeah, I just realized I hadn't shot in 24*anything* and was disappointed. I can't understand why it says 24P in the display even when you're on F1 of the Scene File dial.

So yeah, could you make a recommendation as to which is better, 24P (F5) or 24PA (F6)? I understand the differences, but which looks better? I think I read somewhere that 24PA looks nicer.

Oh, and what settings do I use when importing each, respectively? I swear, I've looked lots of places. I'm using FCP 5 HD as my NLE. I saw a setting for removing advance pulldown, is that what I want?

If it says 24p in the display your shooting 24p. Did you buy this cam second hand? Seems like the scene files could then have been altered. Basically the scene files come with factory presets, but you can make f1 to f6 all 24pa or whatever you want. Id suggest grabing a DVX book from Barry somewhere. You can also reset all presets f1 - f6 back to factory.

Ahh, okay, so it *was* in 24P mode, I just found the menu settings for the individual scene files. Thanks for the tip.
