IF YOU ARE READING THIS, PLEASE RESPOND WITH JUST SOMETHING THAT YOU THINK WOULD BE GOOD. I WANT TO PURCHASE ONE TODAY IF POSSIBLE!

Ok, I want to purchase a camera that I can get before the end of the week and this is the thing.

Im in the military and went to the military exchange and seen a 3CCD Panasonic GS65 camera that was $569.00. Pretty good price. I want to get a DVX or HVX actually because I want to start shooting music videos and weddings and commmercials as well as short films too. BUT!! I cant afford that camera just yet but I do want to start turning my podcast into a vidcast on some episodes as well. I want a camera that I can take everywhere cause its sooo small as well as have a camera that if I needed to, I can charge like $100-$500 and shoot a music video for some rappers and them end up liking the quality. Sometimes its really easy to please underground (we aren't going anywhere with this) rappers. LOL.

But I do want 3CCD, but is it that much better in those little cameras than the 1CCD or 1/2 or whatever the original DV mini cameras are?

I was looking at the Panasonic GS 65 and was like thats cheap. I dont want to go over 1000 bucks for this camera cause I will eventually buy the HVX and this would be perfect for a little whatever camera. BUT I STILL WANT TO TRY TO GET PROFESSIONAL USE OUT OF IT.

I looked further and found the Panasonic GS 300 thats a lil bit more expensive. Is it that much better though? I just want to find something very small that can do all that for well under 1000 (if possible) i just dont want to spend more than $1000.

And if you have an ideas please let me know, what should I get? ASAP!!!

I just seen the Sony HDR-HC1 for 1300 and that shoots at HD, its small but maybe kinda big. I dont know, think I should spend a lil more and get that small HD sony one? Hmm.. any other great options over the Panasonic GS 300 in the same area of price?

Im still researching right now and leaning closer to that HDR-HC1...

Please someone help? I need to make a decision in the next 30 minutes if possible.... I just want more people to give me options or say its good. Right now I think I will get the Panasonic GS 300 but I dont know 100%

yeah get the sony HDV, I use a panny gs200 for one of my back angles on weddings and next to the DVX it's crap at least I can see the dramitic differences. it's definetly better than a standard MINI-dv and does produce a great image for the cost of the unit but all the same it uses 1/6" chips compared to it's brother the gs500 with 1/4.7" chips. A dvx uses 1/3" the bigger the better. That sony HDV uses a 1 cmos censor chip the reviews so far for such a small camera are very good. check out one here http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sony-HCR-HC1-Review.htm

ps you might need a computer upgrade to edit the footage......

and what's the hurry? it's never good to just buy something that's going to be important to your money making and development on a whim....

Ok how about this though. I got Premeiere Pro 2.0 so if I get the HDV and shoot in HDV can i easy edit it with just that or do i need more capture card stuff and codecs or what?

Well i was in a hurry but I think I will wait another day to make the decision....

LOL So yeah.. maybe the HD huh? I heard some bad reviews that the HC1 HD from sony is bad in low light though, Anyone else?

Well we are going to start shooting my music video starting this weekend and I also wanted to have it for behind the scenes shooting as well... What will i need to upgrade? I got over 1 TB of HD space on my home machine, premiere pro 2.0 and I can get Vegas 6.0 if I have to... ? will it all go through firewire? I want it mostly for footage that will be seen on the internet at my webiste www.337studios.com though. And yeah if i can, do music videos for random friends or fmaily or small clients too!

Sorry. PS : Where can I download some footage from that camera cause I cant search HC1 on this site cause its not enough words (I HATE THAT about this forum) and also i tried HC1 footage on google and didn't get hardly any luck!

I think they say you should have a system requirments easier to find but basically you should have 2gb of Ram and over a 3.0gh for pentium processor, Premiere 2.0 shouldn't have a problem editing the footage and neither would vegas 6 you would capture your footage threw the firewire port the same as any mini-dv camera. As for the low light that's alway's been a problem with using a smaller chip camera but PC Magazine gave that camera there Editors Choice and said this about the image quality and low light...

PC Magazine:

In testing the camcorder, we connected it directly to an HDTV and a computer LCD monitor that could display the video footage in 1080i. In both our talking-head clip and in our action clip, we found superb dynamic range, realistic color, and very few artifacts or aberrations. We found some noise in low-light situations, but given that the camera is a one-chip (CMOS) camcorder, we expected this. In filming our EIA chart, the camera captured 750 lines of resolution, clearly surpassing the 300-to-400 range of other camcorders.

All the guys say to go with the camera and it's a good idea (because it's a cheap HDV camera), but how will the footage look side by side with DVX footage? If not many people know what the footage looks like then would it really be a good idea to buy it if he intends to use it with his upcoming DVX purchase? Just a thought. I use a Panasonic PVGS120 with my DVX footage and I can notice the difference considerably, but most people who watch it just think it's a different mood or setting and don't think of it as different cameras being used.

You've been talking about getting a DVX ever since you registered here. Now, you want an HVX, but only after you blow $1,000.00 on some inferior thing that will still leave you saying you're gonna get a DVX one day. (?)

Point well taken, and oh I thought he wanted a DVX. I just re-read and saw he said he was going to get a HVX. In all seriousness, if you're able to I think you should just rent whenever you need to shoot, which will help you save your money for the camera of your choice. Don't settle when you can save money and rent.

I want the HC1 only because you can down res the 1080i to slomo 24p Widesreen sd andd get almost native 16:9 resolution. but slomo!

its useful for music videos and art stuff.

why not just compare apples to oranges..... It's not a dvx or an hvx, it's a consumer camera.... I started out shooting projects with a consumer until I learned about composure, lighting and editing then I moved up, it won't shoot 24p, but can be converted. and if you bump up to a hvx it would probably blend alright as a b-roll camera. like the GS series works with the DVX. the quality is no where near the same but it's passable by an average viewers eye.

And either people can dwell on buying a expensive camera and wait there life away with out doing anything until they get it or they can purchase what they can afford and start making things

Good point but I have access to a DVX camera all day everyday all the time so thats why I never bought my own. Plus I need a camera that I can even let my wife use to capture stuff. You know, just a home one. And why not get HD as well! After all what you guys said, i think I will get this HDV SOny HC1 and call it a day until atleast a year or 2 then ill get the HVX. I got access to all the equipment i need most of the time though!
