Quick and dirty lens test

My 300$ Ciecio adapter arrived this morning so I mated it to a Canon J20ax8B4

This footage is "Warts & all" its rough and ready, just me playing around to give you an idea of how the lens handles in real life when fishing for shots, to add insult for the first minute or so I was shooting through a dirty window, the soundtrack will change from a TV on inside the house to wildtrack when I venture outside.

In addition the footage quality takes a hit on the trancode to Youtube

Hey Vultch: I noticed in the opening shot they are driving on the wrong side of the road! Are you in Ireland?

We get a bit confused over here about what side of the road we drive on....Yes I live in Belfast

Can you post a picture of your set up when you get the chance please? I have both a Canon J9 and J21 - both would be very interesting on this set up.

hey for real how is this powered? does it need rail suports? what kind of adapter do you need to use it? please reply this is really interesting
to me

The most interesting thing about this is the sheer number of old B4 broadcast lenses listed on ebay that never sell. There is a lot of B4 glass out there collecting dust. . .its also hard to find the bottom; just how cheap could I get a Canon J15X8 for? In theory one might be able to get the ceicio adapter and the lens for less than a new Lumix 14-140.

Hi all, sorry for the delay in replying I was working away for a bit
the lens zoom servo is not powered yet, that was manual zooming it goes down to F1.7 but with the lens doubler in that adds 2 stops.
I came up with two mounts with the first I screwed the Ciecio adapter straight onto a longer camera baseplate the adapter could handle the entire weight of the lens and the AF101 was unstressed... this worked but it was a 5 min job to change the lens.
Mount two I did not screw the Ciecio adapter to the baseplate instead I used a front lens support thus the lens was supported by both the AF101 and the front support, this was nicer for run and gun stuff... hope that makes sense, pictures to come.

so on my AF101 its a 8-160 (x2 extender) (x2 crop factor AF101) = 32-640 focal length F 3.7, with no ramping :-)
also late edit , in that demo video the back focus was off ...better images to come I snapped off the rear screw adjuster , anybody know what its called and where I can buy a proper one, its just a screw but I'd like the official cannon one with the finger grip
