Questions with exporting a 90 minute film to DVD

Well, DVD can only handle SD, and 720p is HD.

Your best option is to export at current settings as a self-contained movie. Personally, I cannot stand exporting from FCP using Compressor. It's slow and clunky. Export the self-contained video, then quit FCP. Launch Compressor and use the DVD setting you mentioned above to prep the files.
 
I'd suggest exporting to 720x480/16:9 ProRes. Then use that as a source for your DVD MPEG-2 format. It will look the best DVD can look.
