FS5: Questions on travel and storage

Howdy...

I just received my FS5... So far so good...

This is the first camera I've owned that really has no storage or protection for the LCD when not in use... I'm the sort of guy who always folded or stowed the LCD on my camera whenever I walked away from it (say, when on a bathroom break or the like), as it always seemed like the most fragile piece of the kit...

Has anyone thought of a good solution for protecting the LCD other than just removing it?

Also, I'm wondering what bags or cases you're thinking of using. I have always liked soft, semi-rigid cases for my gear, but again, with this LCD, it kinda scares me... Wasn't an issue with cameras like the EX1 when you could dock the LCD out of the way, but this seems precarious...

Thoughts?

Best,

Ben

I don't think the LCD is as fragile as you think. I'm someone who takes immaculate care of their gear but I don't take any special precautions with the LCD. I just fold it over against the lens and shove the camera into the bag. I've carried the FS5, a few lenses, batteries, charger, and a MacBook Pro already on planes and trains with my CineBags CB-25B backpack. It's a perfect fit and once it's on my back I don't even know I am wearing it.

If you're scared about the LCD, maybe get a little soft cloth bag to put over the panel like a hood when you pack-up. But I don't think that level of care is needed. Knock on wood.

Not the best advice I've ever heard about gear if I'm honest. Mine (though I don't use it now I have the far superior Small HD 502) has a huge scratch on it from doing this.If I was you I'd get a simple cloth bag you can just 'hood' it with when you pack her away, better to be safe than sorry and in my opinion your monitor screen is important enough to protect a little , no?
