Guys,
Can one of you experienced with the camera confirm of answer these?
  • The HDMI "DOES" work while recording, enabling the use of an external monitor while shooting video?
  • Audio quality is impacted by AGC?
  • Audio is best served with external recorder (Zoom) and current experience is that they match with no stretching needed?
(I have done this extensively in previous video work)
  • Photos are best shot in the raw and edited in post?
  • Pansonic's pancake lens is essentially a 35mm lens after format conversion?
Thanks a mill!
Rob

Yes
Yes, but not dramatically

Yes - and no if audio is set to correct sampling rate.
Wouldn't hurt

If you are referring to the 20mm pancake, then a little longer but pretty much (38mm)

Note for the sound in camera, you can manually set the recording volume to 3 different levels, and you have an on screen VU meter. You don't need an ACG remover option like on some of the canon. The biggest problem with sound is the sub mini plug that requires an extra adapter.

VU is great. The camera doesn't squeeze audio when the level drops like camcorders and some canon DSLR's? Mini plugs are not an issue, don't like them but can live with them.

However, I imagine the conversion isn't great and that the pocket recorders raise the bar a bit. I don't even like the onboard sound of our HMC40's. I always opted, when possible, to record with a decent converter. Seemed like other devices maintained richness and a pleasant top end, in comparison.
