anyone know about these pannie 2/3" chip dvcpro50 camcorders.

i have a quick question about the various 900 series cameras. can u please tell me the order of these cameras and when the cam was released/discontinued.

what was the order of their release?

which had firewire out?

i believe they all had a native 16x9 chip but also could shoot 4x3

i could not find the order or dates of these cameras on the panasonic site.

i believe the order is:

1st-aj-sdc915p (late 1998?)

2nd-aj-pd900wp (late mid 2000s)

3rd-aj-sdx900 (late 2005) current?

any and all info about these 2/3" dvc pro50 cams would be very welcome.

be well

Well, I can't help you with all of your questions but I can tell you that I was shooting on the SDX-900 from late 2004 to mid 2005 and I don't think I was an early adopter. The SDX is a great camera. If everyone didn't want HD and I didn't want tapeless, I might still be shooting on it. Yes it was switchable between 16:9 and 4:3 and yes as far as I know it was a 16:9 chip. I only ever shot 16:9 and it was beautiful. I shot it along side film and preferred what came out of the SDX.
