Hi,
I have a few questions regarding the AF100's native frame rates, and native frame rates in general. Hopefully, someone can shed some light on these for me.
According to Jan Livingston's AF100 presentation that was made available as a PDF, the camera's native frame rates are 30p and 25p.
My questions, coming from someone primarily interested in shooting 24p:
1. The camera is to be both PAL and NTSC, correct? Meaning, every camera will have two native frame rates. Do I have this right? If so, why can't they have a third native frame rate as well?
2. If I shoot 24p on this camera, that footage will have a 3:2 pulldown inserted to make it 24p wrapped in 60i. Is this correct?
3. If the above assumption is correct, will there be any quality loss when removing the pulldown in post as compared to a native 24p camera?
I'm asking this due to the AVCHD codec, and whether removing pulldown is more complicated/ less clean than something like DVCPro HD.
4. Lastly, again assuming the 24p-in-60i situation, footage will take up more room than if native, right?
I think with DVCPro HD, it's a simple mathematical computation because it's solely spatial compression, so you have a ratio of 2.5:1 (i.e., 60i takes up 2.5x more space than 24p).
With AVCHD, is this ratio the same? I know it's a much more clever codec, so maybe there's a difference?

Thanks for any help!
