So we all have seen these crazy dream looking filters applied to video... I was wondering how that's actually done. Somethings say you need filters with certain capabilities, will the hmc150 do the sort? Others say its all done in post.

There is also a few different strengths of filters.

Thanks for your thoughts and ideas. :dankk2:

Here is the filter and a pic what it claims to do...

Originally, infrared was done with special film. Now many people are doing it by having their digital cameras modified by removing the infrared filter that all cameras have in front of the sensor.

As for the HMC150, I seriously doubt that sticking one of the cheap filters on the front is going to produce the same effect as the samples shown.

I think a great way to do this would be with a modified 5DMkII or similar DSLR that shoots video. Have the internal filter removed (it's expensive), and maybe you could shoot some seriously authentic infrared video.

Here's a good resource.

Its pointless if there is an infrared filter already internally in the camera. I will just get an extremely dark or black picture...

I understand, just thought we might get some personal experiences on the subject.

Anyone doing this in video at all? On other cameras or systems?
