Don't own a HVX, but I was curious.... Do you have to shoot HD on the P2 to get that cool overcranked slow mo, or can you do that on SD as well?

It has to be shot in 720pN 24p to the best of my knowledge. That is the mode you want to shoot to get the super slow mo, or timelapse stuff. But after filming it to the P2 card, you can dump directly inside the camera from the P2 card to a MiniDV tape automatically converting the footage from HD to Standard Definition.

Nuts... I don't understand why Slow motion can't be achieved in SD mode....

You could always down rez to SD. Have done that for many clients. Look at this clip.
Just did a down-rez to 720x480 PhotoJpeg - looked great

ya, like i said, just down res from the 720pn. I think because of the tape format, thats why it wouldnt be possible at all
