I know there is a subgroup here, but, given all the updates and features of the GH4 and GH5, couldn't they technically be considered cinema cameras? I feel like the GH4 and 5 are vastly superior from the other models in the GH line and therefore could be separated from the pack and be able to join the EVA1 and Varicam.. no?

But the GHx-series aren’t cinema cameras. They are mirrorless stills cameras. You can use a hammer to chop wood but it’s still not an axe and never will be. Yes, the GHxs can technically do the work of a cinema camera or video camera — they can even be rigged up to almost perform like them — but they’re neither. They’re stills cameras.

Panasonic Broadcast has a specific designation for what constitutes a Cinema Camera. It's like the AJ- designation vs. the AG- designation. And the GH cameras aren't even from Panasonic Broadcast.

This forum was set up for what Panasonic themselves call their Cinema Camera line. The GH already have their own forum section.
